Transitional Schaffer’s Cabin

Located in the heart of the prestigious Schaffer’s Mill community in Truckee, California, this contemporary luxury mountain cabin perfectly embodies the blend of elegance, comfort, and adventure. The goal was to create a family-friendly home in which everyone would feel comfortable and welcome in all seasons, and features classic Tahoe elements with a clean twist.

Upon entry, a private and forested backyard is framed by large glass sliders beyond the soaring great room. Open and luxurious, its main living space set in front of a statement fireplace wrapped in Montana ledgestone which complement the outdoors.

“The goal of [the fireplace] was to feel lodge-like, substantial, yet cozy,” says Craig Fugina, Senior Associate at Donald Joseph, Inc. “A very classy, lodge-style fireplace with grand proportions.”

The team also had fun designing the generously proportioned bunk room/lounge on the second level, which has four full queen bunks, a game table for cards or conversation, and a nice TV lounge with sectional and other seating leading out to the expansive balcony. The goal was to create a perfect bunk space for kids or adults.
